Do you feel intimidated working out and training in front of hundreds of other members at a big commercial gym? Have you always wanted to work with a personal trainer without distractions? Look no further because Steel City Fortitude Fitness is a personal training studio where crowds are nonexistent! We are not a typical membership gym because at this facility, you participate in either one-on-one appointments and/or small group fitness classes with experienced personal trainers. We are located in the Country Inn Shoppes in Wexford, PA.

Meet the Trainers

Rachel Berry and Shannon Bednarick are the co-owners of Steel City Fortitude Fitness! For the past several years, we have envisioned opening up this private training facility where we will work alongside each other training our own assigned clients.   • MPH, EP-C, CPPC

    After graduating from Slippery Rock University with a degree in Exercise Science, I began training clients. I fell in love with this profession and helping each client reach their goals. While working, I earned my Masters in Public Health to further my education in preventing chronic disease in adults. My main focus is to help clients lose weight, lower blood pressure, and lower cholesterol, which are all risk factors for chronic diseases such as type II diabetes! Exercise is really medicine!

    I also earned my Prenatal and Postpartum certification from Girls Gone Strong. I love to help guide these clients safely through workouts before, during, and after pregnancy!

  • Personal Trainer

    Although I was active my whole life, especially as a high school swimmer, I neglected my health in college to focus solely on studying. Once I graduated and began working full-time, I made weight-loss my top priority.  I began to lose weight on my own, by changing my food choices and doing cardio. It wasn’t until I began to work with a personal trainer and add strength training to my regimen that I reached my ultimate goal! 

    I enjoyed this experience of working with a trainer so much that I decided to become one myself!  Fun fact: the trainer I worked with is now my friend and co-owner Rachel Berry! I have found helping others achieve their fitness and health goals to be extremely rewarding.  I am certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and am also a certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist through ACE.
